Introducing the new cat to your family and friends

Once you have told people that you have a new pet especially a cat your going to get both the negative and the positive responses. Starting out it will probably be more negative responses than positive responses. It will probably be something a long the lines of or similar to "oh boy" in that negative tone. It would in most cases probably be worse than that. That's especially true if there are people in your family that cuss a lot. The negative responses or reactions tend to be even more negative if your cat is female. Also as far as negative reactions being even more negative that is also the case if you come from a family that really doesn't like animals.

I remember growing up and one of the cat's me and my brother found was when we were staying with our grandmother and we were driving around looking at Historical landmarks and one of the places where we stopped there had been a lot of junk dropped off as well as a kitten dropped off. We went and got a box and came back to that site and grabbed the kitten and took it back to the house.

Our mother really didn't like pets and really didn't like animals in the house, so this made the other relatives talk saying. Oh wow yawls mother is not going to be too happy that yawl are bringing a cat home, and she is going to have a fit that yawl are bringing home a female cat. She really didn't do all that bad with it. It really didn't take her long to get use to the idea of the kitten and she really just got to where she was ok with it. Most of the time your friends and family will be ok with it. In fact they will fall in love with the new cat or kitten most of the time. A friend of mine that I worked with doing my door to door sales was partnering with one of his high school friends that day. They got better result's sometimes when they worked together. They stumbled on a family that had kittens and they were giving them away and they gave one to each of my co workers. The family put them in boxes for them and they called the people who were driving the company van and asked if they would hold them in the van until the shift was over. They told them they would, because they would more than likely be driving around making their rounds anyway and it was air conditioned in their so the kitten would be fine.

Well one of the guy's let's call him Sean was right out of High School and still living with his dad. When he brought home the kitten the way I understood it the dad wasn't real sure what he thought about that. A week later Sean came into the office very happy. While we were out in the company van making our rounds he revealed what had happened that morning at breakfast with his Dad. Apparently they were having breakfast and the kitten was in the floor pouncing around and exploring, you know doing kitten things and the dad thought it was cute and told Sean. We can keep the kitten!

A few weeks after I had Tiger for awhile and I was on the phone with my mother and I was telling her that I was coming home that weekend she exclaimed "are we going to meet kitty? She was very excited. It had been awhile sense my parents had pets so this was exciting for both. However yes there was some negativity when I first got Tiger as well. The negativity comes because of the simple fact that it has a lot to do with change. This could cause a change in a routine because it is something else that you have to take care and people don't know if you are up for the challenge. It's also something that is going to make a mess. If your someone that likes order or can't stand there being a mess in the house every once in awhile it is going to be tough for you to have pet's starting out. There thought's is so and so going to be able to handle that. I mean the fact that there are some people that can't handle the responsibility of pet's is actually how I ended up with pets.

But if you don't live with your parents and you live a few hour's away from them once you have made the first visit to your parent's house with your pet's by the end of the visit when you are loading everything up getting ready for your drive back to the city. Once your cat is in the carrying crate either in the passenger seat or the front seat right beside you because he or she is your running buddy now they will be telling the cat bye. or if you have two cat's or kittens they will say "bye kitties." And you will think it is funny. And your parent's will have this image of you driving in from whatever city you live in with the kitties.
